THE PTO NEEDS YOU!
May 25, 2010

Every year, the Noyes PTO organizes and sponsors many community, curriculum, and fundraising events. The money raised goes directly back into the school, through Educational Enrichment events, Greenhouse student projects, new technology and classroom materials. And every year, over 150 amazing parents and guardians help to make it happen. There is always a need for new volunteers -- won't you please consider stepping up for one of the following positions?

Math Night Co-Chairs -- Need two people to organize this curriculum-related event in the third week of October 2010. We have the materials and information from previous years, you provide the coordination.

Bingo Night Co-Chairs -- Need two people to organize this fun and popular community-building/fundraising event held in February 2011. Lots of experienced people are available to guide you!

Popsicles on the Playground -- In what is possibly the most laid-back volunteer position ever, two people are needed to buy and hand out popsicles the evening of the Noyes Art Show in June 2011.

Kindergarten Educational Enrichment Coordinator -- Need one person to work with Educational Enrichment Chairs and Kindergarten faculty to arrange author/illustrator visits, science demonstrations, and other EE activities. Kindergarten usually has four EE events spread throughout the year. This is a great way to get to know the K teachers, students, and curriculum.

Science Kits Coordinator -- Need one person to coordinate the delivery and use of science kits from the Boston Museum of Science. Contact teachers to see what they're interested in, arrange for delivery of the kits, then pack up the kits after use and arrange for shipment back to the Museum. Help promote science at school!

Kindergarten Greenhouse Coordinator(s) - Need one or two people to coordinate with K teachers which day to plant daffodil bulbs on the school grounds in Sept/Oct. Takes approximately 30 minutes/class. You'd organize 2 parent volunteers /class. Fun way to meet new parents and get to know children's classmates.

1st Grade Greenhouse Coordinator - Need one volunteer to co-coordinate the spring bean pot project & 1st grade caring project. Plan schedule with teachers and organize 2 parent volunteers for each weekly data collection session. Plant bean seeds and observe plant growth over the next 3-4 weeks. Green thumb not required.

For each position, we have explanatory binders as well as experienced current and previous volunteers to guide you through the process. If you're interested in any of these positions, please contact Andrea Wang at andreaywang@yahoo.com or Roberta Gregerman at gregie1@comcast.net. And a huge thank you to everyone who has already stepped up for a position in the fall!
